We love Bentos!
It’s a great gift idea, and it’s a lot of fun to decorate!
So we decided to make one for our own birthday, and this time we’re sharing the steps!
Let’s start with the basics: Make the Box: To start, we made a bento box out of plastic bags.
It is super easy to make, and we’ve shared the step-by-step photos to help you get started.
The instructions can be found below: 1.
Start by cutting the plastic bag into 4 pieces.
Place the folded pieces into a food processor.
Process until all the pieces are ground up and the bag is finely chopped.
Transfer the mixture to a large bowl.
Mix in the soy sauce, sake, and the chopped pork.
Place into a freezer bag and freeze for at least 1 week, depending on how long your family eats!
To cook the Bento: Cut the bento into 4 wedges.
Roll each piece into a ball.
Add the soy milk, sesame seeds, and salt.
Place on a baking sheet, then bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
This takes about 5 minutes per side.
Cool completely before cutting into 6 wedges and slicing.
To eat: Wrap the whole thing in foil and eat it!
Recipe Notes You can use different toppings, such as: chopped peanuts, chopped scallions, chopped pineapple, sliced cucumber, or anything you’d like!
Enjoy your bento!
