“Children’s toys can be dangerous, because the toys can cause injuries to their arms, hands, legs, and face,” the report, released Friday, said.
“In one study, children who had toys in their hands were found to have higher levels of the bacterial strain that causes pneumonia than those who did not.”
The CDC also noted that “many parents are unaware that toys and other products can cause illness.”
“Parents often don’t consider that toys can also be a potential source of disease,” the CDC said.
The report said the risk of an accidental death or serious injury from a toy was higher for children who are older than 5 and who live with their parents.
